The Moon

I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
                                                    --Roger Waters

It was a full moon when they closed down
A nightclub on a cool September night,
The Moon they called it--the alternative in town--
One of New Haven's few points of light.

Bands, nightclubs, concerts, lovers come and go,
And there are ego trips and petty fights,
But I've always seen your gentle glow,
I've seen you as a friend on lonely nights.

O Moon!  I used to read my poems here,
I shouted in sadness and in rage,
Alone, desperate and drunk on beer...
O Moon!  The club where once Nirvana played.
