My Sum

by T. Emilie Dybevik
Tuesday, October 14, 2003

For a math poet...

I love your face, every beam
I love to wink at you,
I love to lay and daydream,
I love to think of you.

I love the place in your eyes
I love to watch them stare,
I love the way they start rhyme,
I love just how they dare.

One plus one does equal two
But one times one is one,
My love that is me and you
And Dear you are my sum.

                                .....for Alex  ; o)

The formula for this poem is E=MC (2)

Translation:

E(mily's Effervescence) = M(use) C(reatively) for (2) people in love.

Beautiful poem, Teresa. I see you got old Gilbert jealous. :) Mathematics and jealousy don't mix very well. Let him stick to what he knows best: redneck poems about Bubba, war stories, and spreading false rumors about others. As Albert Einstein said: "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." Your poem reminds me of e.e. cummings who wrote:

now i love you and you love me
(and books are shutter
than books
can be)
and deep in the high that does nothing but fall
(with a shout
each
around we go all)
there's somebody calling who's we

we're everything brighter than even the sun
(we're everything greater
than books
might mean)
we're everyanything more than believe
(with a spin
leap
alive we're alive)
we're wonderful one times one

You've shown me what it means to be alive. Love, Alex

On the horizon she does appear, during the sunrise and as the sunsets.
But during the inbetween time she is invisible to the eye, I wonder why? but to wonder why would be to linger in time itself, visit worlds undiscovered. So I explore. Lovely little math piece, shows affection about sum, I mean some(one) or maybe sum(two). Maybe I'm not a good mathematician. hugs G
