Let it rain inside my soul
Tears of loss and tears of pain--

Tears of sadness--let it rain.

Gently fall upon the streets--
Tears of loneliness and fear,
Tears of darkness and defeat.

Let it rain until they know
That we all sometimes must cry,
Let it rain and let it show
In my verses, in my eyes.

Take me, sadness, take me out
Take me out into this rain,
Let me soak, let me shout,
Let me wash away this pain.

If by chance I wake tomorrow
With a smile upon my face,
I'll thank you, rain of sorrow,
