Superstar

Some folks say they know better
With heads up in the clouds,
And some are real go-getters,
Whose voices get too loud.

I don't know much about life,
But I've seen the light--
All folks do things to get by,
And some aren't very bright.

Some folks will devalue you
And try to make you small,
Belittling your point of view
Like pompous know-it-alls.

And when you see there's no use
In trying to connect,
You'll find a sudden change in you
From subtle to direct.

And you'll say: "Oh golly gee,
Why didn't I think of this?
My whole life I tried to be
Somebody's masterpiece."

You'll discover that you're real
Just being who you are
With your sweet charm and sex appeal--
A freaking superstar!

Then you'll laugh like a baboon
And know it's OK,
Because all poets are buffoons,
Who versify like apes.
